End of summer wrap up

The last day before school started, we “celebrated” by doing legos! The truth is summer was short, and not the most exciting for the kids. We splurged (since we didn’t spend a lot of money on other recreation this summer) and each picked out a lego set. Then the Sunday morning before school started we sat at the table together and each built our legos! It was so fun and also much needed family time since the 4 of us hadn’t connected much since Otto had been home. He graced us with a super long nap in the swing while we were building.

Another thing I want to mention for the sake of remembering is what I’ve been mentally referring to as “the girls of summer.” Those girls are “Alexa and Katie” and “Liv and Maddie.” Ayla and Zeke watched those shows a lot together this summer. They are comfort shows for our family. Ayla and Zeke went on a run of watching “Alexa and Katie” earlier in the summer when I would go to bed early because of being pregnant and tired. They would stay up late (or even sleep in the basement) and watch episode after episode. “Liv and Maddie” they watched a lot after Otto was born and in the first week of school.

And the last thing I want to mention is that the kids played A TON of Minecraft this summer. It was a way they could “play” with friends without being with them in person (again, their mom was pregnant and tired.) Zeke would play on his phone and Ayla on the laptop. It, of course, also became the subject of many crafts, especially for Zeke.
