Dayda is one smart cookie

I was always a bit curious at what point Zeke would start calling Ayla by name and what that name would be. For example, I still remember when my nephew called his big sister, Olivia, Lala. Well, to Zeke Ayla is Dayda. He woke up before her one day this week (as he does almost every day) and was walking around the house calling, "Daaaaydaaaaa." Or if he hears her in the other room he'll smile, "Dayda!" What else is Mr. Peeker Pie up to these days? (Sorry kiddo, I'm not sure where your parents come up with these nicknames!) What we should call him is a tornado, or maybe hurricane Zeke. He has the capacity to completely trash our house in a matter of minutes. Ayla at this age would stay in one place and play with one or two things. Zeke zooms around the house unloading every thing in sight. First the tupperware, then the pans, unroll the toilet paper, bring the potty seat into the living room, the potty stool into Ayla's room. Quick slip on Daddy's shoes and toddle off into the kitchen leaving them in the middle of the floor to be tripped on, now draw on the floor and door of Ayla's room, dump out the crayon bin... all in the time it takes me to take a breath.

He loves stickers right now. He calls them "geekees." Jake has been asking him all the time, "Zeke, are you a baby or a big boy?" Every time Zeke will reply, "ahhhhh (as if deliberating) and then either say baby or beebo (for big boy)" So gosh darn cute. "Zeke, are you a baby or a big boy?" "Ahhhhh...beebo!" He still meows and meows. But he is also talking (English, not cat) like crazy. Tonight his hand was sticky and he held it out and said "han," waiting for my to wipe it. Later he told me to wake up. He also says just about every version of no you could ask for (thanks big sister!!) "no, no way, ah ah, not" Terrible twos starting early?

Zeke is also just a little more than slightly attached to Daddy right now. You should see when Jake comes home from work. I am going to try and capture it on video. If Zeke was any more excited he'd be a dog ("master is home!!!") He hears the door open from the other room and his eyes get HUGE and he yells "HI!" And then he runs into the living room yelling "hihihihihihihihihihihihihi!!!!!"

And now what about Dayda? Well, like I said, she is one smart cookie. She is reading some words, spelling and sounding a lot of things out. She is truly an artist. We can't keep up with the number of drawings she puts out in a day.

Recently she has said some things to me that made me chuckle and blew me away a bit. "Mommy, is Emily spelled M-L-E?" "Christmas is on November 55th" -Ok, maybe it's just a coincidence, but in a way isn't Christmas on November 55th? Also she said, "I'm not talking, but my brain is."

I have included pictures of a drawing she did recently. She said to me that she didn't know what to draw. So I said, "why don't you draw a picture of you thinking about what to draw." This is what she came up with. Notice that her eyes are closed and there is a tiny person in her head. Amazing. She is something else. I love her take on things.
