11 months- one week late
Last Monday Zeke turned 11 months old and of course we are late on posting! We decided to celebrate his 11 month "birthday" with him having the stomach flu and then Ayla having to get a albuterol nebulizer because of her bad cold. Will it ever warm up?!!! The kids have not had more than a 2 week stretch of health since January I think.
Here's what Zeke is up to these days:
Zeke seems to have very good comprehension and manual dexterity for his age. He understands and responds when you tell him to do certain things- "toss me the ball" "push the button" "where's my kiss?" "Put the toy in here."
Like a true boy, he loves to play ball. He is really quite amazing at tossing a ball considering her is only 11 months old. He really winds up and then fires it at you and we spend time every day throwing the ball back and forth.
He pulls up on things more and more which makes for a frustrating time for Ayla since he can now get in her way or nab more of her toys.
Zeke has this little stuffed animal frog that ribbits when you squeeze its belly. He gets so excited by it, he bounces up and down and will gasp and whimper and do anything to get at it and then when he gets it he tosses it.
Like any kid, he loves being naked. We always lay him on our bed to change him into his jammies. Once you get his clothes of he starts to giggle and squirm and then throw himself all over the bed. He sits up and then throws himself backwards and barrel rolls. It is so hilarious. Guess you have to see it, though.
Zeke is such a clown. He knows when he is getting a laugh out of people and really hams it up. He loves to smile and laugh and loves to make others do the same. Jake's parents say that is much like Jake was at Zeke's age.
He isn't saying a lot of real words yet (as a matter of comparison, Ayla had at least a 5 word vocab by now) but sticks to a lot of "gung gung" and "goya goya." He does vocalize a lot, though.
As far as Ayla goes, we were looking at pictures of her from last summer and noticed how much she has changed since then. She still had a bit of that "baby-ness" to her. It is completely gone now. She is such a little person! When did that happen? She loves fashion, loves to look and think about and comment on clothing. She still spend the majority of her time drawing. (Always people, and she will always specify what they are wearing while describing the picture to you) We just bought her her first big girl bike. We were going to give it to her on Easter, but decided to surprise her with it yesterday since it was the only day it was supposed to be somewhat nice out for quite a while. She cried when she saw it. It may have been the sweetest thing I have ever seen. She's not ALWAYS sweet, though. She is kind of a bully to her little brother. If he has something she suddenly wants it and is always ripping things out of his hands while he sits there and frowns and whimpers. She leans into him "affectionately" but almost always knocks him over. They adore each other but torture each other. In other words, they've got the whole sibling thing down pat!
