Howie Who?!

So here's how this works. This is actually the 4th post we've published in the last couple of days. So you may want to scroll down to Jake's blog titled "So haven't seen you in a while" and start there. The Kentucky pictures might be more relevant if you do it that way. I wanted to post a couple of blogs that are just pictures since it has been so long since we posted and we have LOTS of good pictures!

Right now it is Saturday morning and we are all hanging out in our jammies... Ayla is wearing hot pink shorts, a bright blue head band and a sweatshirt that lights up OVER her jammies. She looks like Pippy Long stocking! :) Ayla is pretending to feed her baby doll some corn chex cereal and offering juice to her stuffed animals.

Ayla's process of learning to speak is always a fun thing to report on this blog. It is always a source of entertainment to us. Like Jake said in his post, Ayla is learning more and more songs and is able to sing along. Papa Dave taught Ayla "Amazing Grace" which Ayla randomly breaks out into. It is very funny to hear a 2-year-old say the phrase "That saved a wretch like me." When she says it, it comes out as, "Dat save da wech like me." :)

She also listens to a cd of childrens Bible songs. One song says "Glory Glory" over and over and for the longest time I couldn't figure out what in our house was glowing because Ayla was walking around singing, "Glowy glowy." Another song says "Hallelujah." She says "Howie Louie" and I just picture a cheesy television personality or something like that.

Ayla has a toy called Alphabet Pal. She calls him "Al Fet." Again like a first and last name. All this stuff cracks me up!

Anyway...yes, as Jake said Ayla is quite a little person now. We enjoy the freedom to fudge a little in life now. When she was tiny we had to follow a strict schedule of feeding and naps for her sake and our sanity. Now it is so nice that we can put her to bed when we want (last night she stayed up an extra hour so we could go to Dairy Queen with friends!) and not worry when she doesn't take the best nap or eat the biggest meal. These are little things but allow us to be a little more spontaneous in life and to me that feels like freedom!

I've included a few more pictures that I forgot to include in the two photo blogs. Hope you enjoy them! Love to all!
