Camper Camping

I don’t think I ever updated here, but Jake started a new job in mid-September, working as a Project Manager for Marten Building and Design. One unrelated but awesome thing that came of it was that his new boss sold us his family’s camper!

We wanted to make sure we got to make use of it once before the cold, so the four of us headed out for one last camping trip of the year in mid-October. We had reservations at Buckhorn State Park.  We got a late start on Friday afternoon and had to stop and drop the dogs off. By time we got close to Buckhorn it was dusk. Between very few and poorly marked signs and not many street lights, it was well after dark when we found our camp sight. It was an adventure to say the least! We set up our camper for its first use in the pitch black.

The next morning when we woke up, we saw that the park and campsite were BEAUTIFUL! Especially because all the fall colors were out in force. We did some hiking, and discovered a beautiful lake. We sat by the fire, Zeke read a whole book (impressed!), and it was just a generally lovely weekend. Beside being a bit frozen the second night, it was a success!
