Christmas 2019
We had a LOVELY Christmas season! It started with the fact that for the first time ever we had TWO FULL weeks off school. What a wonderful reality. With the early snow on Halloween, the spirit started early and so we got our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. We got the perfect tree, nice and thin to fit in our living room. I enjoyed having a bit of extra time to get the house decorated and ended up having some fun with bottle brush trees and homemade origami trees.

In true Wisconsin form, after our 8 inches at the end of October, Christmas week was warm and muddy- definitely not white. That was ok though, I resolved to not waste any energy being mad about it.
We did our traditional trip to the Capital pageant on December 8th, watched a ton of Christmas movies multiple times over, and Jake and I even managed to get presents bought and wrapped in the middle of Heartlands grand opening weekend and subsequent 6 Christmas services. I also managed to bake cookies and make chex mix and then singlehandedly eat almost all of both.
With the warmer weather Jake made a lot of fires in the pit- wood courtesy of mom and dad Germann. The kids are at great ages this year and gift giving was very satisfying. They seemed to really enjoy every gift they received. Highlights were definitely Zeke’s Nintendo Switch and chrome gold hover board, and for Ayla some really high end art supplies from Aunt Keys and Mana/Papa.
We had an open house and bon fire on the 23rd and invited some friends from church. That was a big deal for us- introverts who are ever self conscious about our little house.
All in all it was just lovely time at home as a family. That is our most favorite thing- to just be home all together. We are grateful.
